  • Camping is allowed in designated areas only.
  • Free firewood is available in the campground. Fires may only be built in provided fire rings at rented campsites. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD TO LLELA. Outside wood can harbor invasive insect species. Please use the wood provided and don't cut your own. For more information, visit: DontMoveFirewood.org
  • Fires are allowed only in rented camp sites.
  • Campground quiet hours are between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • All vehicles and equipment are permitted only on designated roads.
  • Trails are for hiking only — no bicycles, horses, or motor vehicles of any kind.
  • No pets are permitted, except service animals.
  • No alcohol or firearms.
  • To use, light, smoke, or carry a lit or smoldering tobacco product in LLELA is PROHIBITED. This includes cigars, cigarettes, pipes, electronic nicotine or vapor delivery devices, and smokeless tobacco.
  • Portable toilets are located near the parking areas.
  • No littering — if you pack it in, pack it out.
  • Fishing nets are not allowed at LLELA (not even for bait).
  • Fishing bows are not allowed.
  • A fishing license is required to fish.

Note: As of 10/25/2019, our procedure will be to close Jones Street east of the parking lot at the Cicada Pavilion when the Corps of Engineers is releasing more than 5,000 cfs through Lewisville Dam. At these times, there will be no fishing or camping at LLELA. When the river is at that flood stage, most fishing access points, the Bittern Marsh Trail, and the campground are flooded anyway. This access restriction protects visitor safety. Visitors will still have access to public spaces at LLELA west of the road closure.
