log cabin located inside LLELACompletely restored and furnished with all the trappings of everyday frontier life, the Minor-Porter Log House gives visitors to LLELA a window on life in Denton County in 1870. Interested visitors can tour the house from 12-3 p.m. on the third Saturday of most months (check our calendar for upcoming dates). Visitors are welcome to arrive at any time during the open hours and tour at their own pace, but please arrive at least 30 minutes before the house closes to allow adequate time to tour the building. Knowledgeable volunteers will guide visitors through the structures (log house, smokehouse, and reconstructed dugout) and answer questions in this informal tour. Cost: regular admission ($5/vehicle). No registration is required. Check the calendar for upcoming dates. For more information contact Outdoor Recreation Supervisor, Erin Piper, or call 469.635.5482.

Come prepared: the log house is located about 0.25 mile from the Cicada Pavilion parking lot, along the Cottonwood Trail. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a bottle of water. Payment at the gatehouse is by credit card only (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover); we do not accept cash.
