From badge workshops to group camping, LLELA offers great opportunities for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls, Frontier Girls, Camp Fire groups, Indian Guides and Princesses. While these programs are designed to meet badge requirements, members of other youth organizations interested in these topics are welcome.

It is usually impossible to fulfill all of the requirements of most badges in only a few hours, but LLELA staff will include as much as possible in a series of hands-on, engaging activities. Contact Outdoor Recreation Supervisor, Erin Piper, at 469.635.5482 for more information.

Camping

Service Projects

There are many opportunities for volunteer service groups to get involved in LLELA's restoration efforts. If your troop is looking for a service project, consider helping us maintain a trail, work in the plant nursery, harvest native grass and wildflower seeds, and more. Many projects can be applied to Scouting awards, including Eagle Scout, World Conservation Award, or the Hornaday Award (Boy Scouts); Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award (Girl Scouts), etc.

We are in the process of restructuring our planning and implementation of future service and Eagle Scout projects and will post more information soon.

Hiking

Over 6 miles of hiking trails are available at LLELA, with a variety of lengths and sights to see. You can hike on your own, or make a reservation for a guided hike led by knowledgeable LLELA staff or volunteers. The two-hour long guided hikes for Scouting groups are $10 per attendee in addition to the $5 per vehicle entry fee.

The Geocache Adventure Trail was developed by a Boy Scout and is another fun way to explore LLELA's trails.

Badge Workshops

Badge workshops are a $15 per scout, in addition to the $5 per vehicle entry fee. Workshops require a minimum of 8 scouts and a maximum of 15 per session. We can accommodate a maximum of 60 scouts, split into 4 simultaneous sessions with 15 scouts in each session. Troops with smaller scout numbers can combine with other troops to attend workshops. This number does not include siblings. Workshops can be scheduled after school, during school holidays, or on weekends. Contact Outdoor Recreation Supervisor, Erin Piper, for more information.
