Visitor Center
Need more trail information? Want to report an unusual wildlife sighting, or find out what other hikers are seeing? Need to look through a field guide to decide what kind of wildflower that was along the Bittern Marsh Trail? Need an indoor restroom break, or a cup of coffee...or a place to refill your water bottle? We can help, at least on Saturdays and Sundays.
The LLELA Visitor Center will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. It is staffed exclusively by LLELA-loving volunteers!
The Visitor Center is adjacent to the parking lot for the Blackjack Trail, just past the LLELA gatehouse as you enter, on your right. Park and as you walk toward the buildings head for the building at the northwest corner of the quad (closest to the portable toilets).
Our Visitor Center is a place where guests of all ages and levels of outdoor comfort can check in with a LLELA representative who knows our mission, activities, and trails. This is a great opportunity for any volunteer who can donate 3-4 hours a month greeting visitors, answering questions, and just generally telling folks about LLELA and all the awesome things we do here. As we add new volunteers, we plan on adding additional days to the schedule. If you are interested in joining the Visitor Center team, please contact Outdoor Recreation Supervisor, Erin Piper or call 469.635.5482.
